EXPERIENCE |
- PhD from Liverpool University from a study of the surface chemistry and crystal growth of different polymorphs of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
- Research into and manufacture of inorganic fertilisers.
- Colloid Science Group of ICI Corporate Laboratory. Investigated polyelectrolytes, nonaqueous pigment dispersions and the surface and colloid chemistry of bacteria.
- ICI (now Ineos Vinyls) PVC Business. Researched the suspension polymerisation of VCM. Patented a new antifoam and a radically new process for controlling SPVC grain morphology. R&T and Plant Technical manager.
- ICI, AstraZeneca. Technical Manager of NeoResins range of VCM, VdC and acrylate copolymers for use in anticorrosive paints and barrier coatings. Control of production technology, product quality and managed laboratory and customer support. Transferred the production process from UK to Japan.
- SABIC R&T, Riyadh. Research Advisor, developing the companies VCM emulsion and suspension polymerisation technology and PVC paste plastisols technology.
- Established Chemical Associates in 2000.
Chemical Associates has worked on projects as diverse as:
- Building links between the chemical industry and academia in Northwest England, successfully applied for a £4.3m UK Government Grant to establish the OMIC Centre at Manchester University.
- Our techno-commercial studies have included investigations into PVC processing and the chemical additives used in plastics processing, the coatings industry, monochloroacetic acid (MCAA) production, product searches and a feasibility study for the production of fuel grade bioethanol in China
- The development of formulated products for personal care and sports use.
- Technical training
