| Advice on European Union and US food regulatory
affairs relating to food additives, novel foods and foodstuffs in
general, including good manufacturing practice, hygiene and other aspects of
food manufacturing. The Consultancy operates in UK and overseas. |

CONSULTANCY SERVICES |
||
| Preparation and submission of toxicological
dossiers to regulatory bodies, such as national governments, the
Scientific Committee for Food of the Commission of the European Communities,
Food and Drug Administration of the US, the FAO/ WHO Joint Experts Committee on
Food Additives (JECFA). Negotiation with the Commission and Member States administrations, and FDA in relation to food regulatory affairs. Services offered have proved useful to chemical and allied manufacturing companies and to smaller food companies which may not have in-house expertise in dealing with food regulatory affairs, . Knowledge of, and experience in dealing with the European Commission, Member States' Ministries and the FDA is invaluable in these matters. |

EXPERIENCE |
||
| Production, marketing and technical management
in the chemical and food processing industries; company representation in Trade Associations; monitoring and lobbying in relation to proposed legislation. Participation as Chairman in ISO technical committees; participation in Codex Alimentarius Committees on Food Additives and Contaminants, and Methods of Analysis and Sampling. Introduction ofISO 9002 (BS 5750), to Cerestar on a Europe-wide basis and administration of company European quality assurance. Ten years living in Brussels, working with nationals and governments of all European countries. Member and Secretary of the former working group which produced the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Committee Good Manufacturing Practices Manual. Represented the Food Additives and Food Enzymes Industry Federation on European Commission Food Additive Specifications working group. Member of the FAO/WHO Joint Experts Committee on Food Additives. (JECFA) Reasonably skilled in French, with some German and Dutch. |

| Graduated in Biological Chemistry (IIA) from the University of Bristol, followed by a Ph.D. awarded for research into the enzyme "Arginase", carried out in the Veterinary School of Bristol. | ||
